During their May meeting, it was with pleasure that members of this organization’s Executive Board unanimously approved the appointment of Betsy R. Cramer to serve as Secretary for the balance of the 2015-2016 term. Betsy stepped forward after learning of the recent plea from Past President Jim Tinsley asking SBAUG Members to consider volunteering alongside the rest of the Officers & Appointees serving on the Executive Board. Cramer’s cumulative involvement with the organization, computing technologies as well as serving the greater Santa Barbara community is diverse and spans decades. We are fortunate to have her among those at the helm of our ‘ship’, working on behalf of the organization and its membership. Welcome Betsy! Reminder: Members-in-good-standing that are interested in serving as Program Chair or Publicity Coordinator on the Executive Board are still sought. To that end – please visit our Contact Us page and compose a new email to any of the listed members of the Executive Board and express your interest.

Congratulations Betsy! Your perspective cannot but add to the group. Can we also look forward to official minutes? Looking forward to your sense of humour in them.

LOL, Pia. I think I will keep my laughter hidden, but as for “official minutes”, what, pray tell me, would those be? I am more than a little puzzled, now with two meetings, moi being officially present as “secretary”, a role I’ve long avoided and now have two such hats (the other being Citizens Planning Association board), exactly what is/are the purpose(s) of these meetings and what, exactly, are the parameters of my role therein. Funny enough?
Hi Betsy,
Oh, I hope you will have many good laughs during your term as Secretary. By “official minutes” I mean that the general membership receive a copy of the minutes from the board meetings, or they are posted on the site somewhere so that members can access and read them. I think, and alway said when I was on the board, that we should publish the minutes-they are meant to be available to all members.
Now the purpose of the meetings … well … perhaps I might suggest going back in time and look at the Mission statement of the club? Way back Ed Togami, Mac, myself and some others put one together -late 90s it was- and it was updated at a later date by Brian, maybe Mac, and some others of the old timers, most who are not with the club anymore- to bring the Mission Statement into the 21st century. Somewhere in the old minutes one should find it.
best,
Pia
We are thrilled to welcome Betsy to the SBAUG Executive Board. We are looking forward to fun times and a memorable journey together. Welcome Betsy!
